- I recently replaced my A3640 CPU-card and A4091 SCSI-2 card with a Cyberstorm
- 060 CPU-card with the CyberSCSI module. Ever since, I've had lots of trouble
- with checksum-errors on my drives.
-
- I have tried with and without motherboard RAM (16MB), with and without CPU-
- card RAM (32MB, 4*8) etc. Nothing seems to work.
-
- I finally caved in, returned the CyberSCSI-module for replacement and
- reinstalled the A4091. And what do you know? The problem was still there...
-
- Now, I've never had any trouble with this setup before the Cyber-devices:
-
- SCSI-card--Conner HD--Conner HD--DEC HD--Wangtek DAT--Toshiba CD--Conner HD
- ID 7 ID 6 ID 5 ID 2 ID 4 ID 3 ID 1
- 1060MB 540MB 200MB 4GB 100MB
-
- The A4091 has always been jumpered with FAST and synchronous mode, even though
- the smallest of the HD's doesn't support synchronous transfer. But even if I
- disable the Synch-jumper on the A4091 the problem persists.
-
- The SCSI-chain is terminated on the SCSI-card and on the last disk (which is
- in a separate box with active termination on the outside). All the devices
- are external, the first 5 are in a SCSI-tower the last in a separate box
- after that.
-
- One thing worth mentioning is that if the last box (the one with the
- termination) isn't powered up, I can't even boot the machine, I get lots of
- read-errors.
-
- This leads me to think of termination problems. But this chain worked before I
- replaced the A4091! And I even put that back! The only thing different from my
- working setup is the Cyberstorm 060...
-
- Other relevant stuff:
-
- - Buster rev 11
- - A2065, Microway FF, Cybervision 64 4MB cards
- - A4091 2nd.scsi.device v40.13
- - All cables in the SCSI-chain are properly connected.
-
- Anyone know what might be wrong?
